G-type Main Sequence
G-type Main Sequence brings together work from Inka & Niclas’ long-term engagement with images of nature. Travelling from cold, wintry landscapes in the north to heat, palm trees and tropical islands, the artists use photography not simply to represent scenic places, but to explore the experience of a place through different forms of expression. Through inventive methods, they alter the photographic image and transform it into sculptural objects and installations shaped by unusual conditions of light and colour.
The exhibition presents works from the visual world the artists have developed over many years. Inka & Niclas describe their process as being as much about their shared life and existential experiences as about practical work on site. Their work often takes shape at dawn and dusk. Recurring elements include sunsets, a burning globe nestled within a form resembling a crumpled pile of clothes, foaming ocean waves in neon-green cascades, hair extensions moving like the sea, and coconut palms. These elements are connected to visions of paradise and to the artists’ exploration of how the world is transformed into dreams and visual clichés.
