Biography

Šarūnas Kvietkus is an independent artist whose practice explores the boundaries of the photographic medium, the impact of technology on the image, and the possibilities of alternative photographic processes. In 2018, he completed photography studies at the Justinas Vienožinskis Faculty of Arts at Kauno kolegija, and in 2020 he received an MA in Photography and Media Art from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. His practice is grounded in a conceptual approach to photography, the observation of social processes, and an ongoing search for visual language, reconsidering photography not only as a means of representing reality but also as an autonomous visual system.

Kvietkus is interested in the relevance of historical photographic technologies in a contemporary context, the materiality of photography, the process through which an image emerges, and the specificity of the photographic apparatus. Analogue and historical processes become tools for examining the nature of the image, transformations of media, and forms of visual communication. His work draws attention not only to the resulting image but also to the process of its production.
