Biography
Vincas Alesius is a photographer who has been photographing people in city streets for more than a decade. His photographs emerge from sustained observation of everyday life – passers-by, their gestures and gazes, and unexpected encounters with the camera.
For many years, Alesius worked primarily as a photographer without seeking to define his practice through the categories of the art world. His work is now undergoing a shift as his long-term street photography practice becomes material for more deliberate reflection. He returns to his accumulated archive, his relationship with the people he photographs, and the act of looking itself.
