Facing mortality with humor – Family Narratives in the Work of Nina Röder
In this lecture, artist Nina Röder reflects on her more than ten years of work, which focuses on exploring familial narratives. Röder’s photographic practice, positioned at the intersection of staged photography and documentary moments, offers a complex engagement with memory, identity, and the intergenerational transmission of experiences and trauma. Her visual language is often marked by an absurd and humorous style, which she uses to subtly deconstruct family dynamics and as a way to cope with grief.
