Antanas Sutkus. Memories of a Colorful Life
The first exhibition of color photography by Antanas Sutkus
Photographer Antanas Sutkus – an inexhaustible source of creativity. Having worked with his photographic archive for three decades, he continues to discover new, forgotten, and unseen shots. This exhibition offers a chance to see previously unknown sides of A. Sutkus: for the first time, a large series of color photographs is being displayed, as if adding color to our black-and-white memories of the past and bridging it to the present. The series – filmstrip layouts – provides a unique opportunity to understand Antanas’ thought process in the face of approaching a decisive moment of a shot. It reveals what happened before and after capturing one or another well-known, familiar photography. The exhibition will also feature previously unseen glimpses of Antanas through the eyes of his colleagues. These portraits of him, created by various authors, reveal the creator’s personality through human sensibility at different stages of his life. The exhibition will also be accompanied by audiovisual works created specifically for this occasion.
