Francisco Alves

Francisco Alves is a Portuguese photographer and visual artist, currently doing a master’s degree in Cinema and Photography at the School of Media Arts and Design. His first non-casual contact with photography happened during his bachelor’s degree in Communication, where he specialized in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication.

Ever since, Francisco has been endeavoring mostly into self-portraiture, which plays a big part in his urge to make sense of himself and his place in the world, and concert photography as a casual creative outlet to explore his love for music.

At the IPMA Festival, Francisco presents neotêxtil, which explores the technological evolution of the textile industry through automated and organized mechanical landscapes where human beings increasingly play a supporting role to the machines.
