Short stories about people I never met

The work Short stories about people I never met is a project consists of narrative sequence images, created from found photos, ‘orphan photos’ and family albums during the 1970s. The original photos found in flea markets and they came from various photo archives and albums featuring unknown people. After being expelled from the protected and protective field of the family album and rejected by their owners, these photographs became travelers in a ‘dead zone’, losing the names of those they represent and their original narrations. Their personal stories sunk anonymously into time. How can these dead images come back to life with new narratives and stories? Spending hours searching and working with these photos I noticed that by combining different images new life stories and fictional narratives can be born. Therefore, I used AI generative models to create stories based in these photos (conspiracy theories, imaginary dialogues, phone calls, fictional stories and more). During the creation of the stories, the virtual points of the photographs, whether arbitrarily or not, are mapped, analyzed into discrete coded units, subjected to multiple articulations, and transferred to texts with the detailed descriptions to such an extent that the power of the text prevails many times the visual information. The purpose of this practice is about how found photos and discarded family images are saved and brought back to life and being transformed through storytelling. Thus, these photographs are reborn in a new narrative context and construct new fantastic visual narratives.
