“VOICES IN THE SEASHELL” AND “PERCUSSIONS”

In the series of works “Voices in the Seashell” and “Percussions” the artist focuses on the inner processes of the human body and the matter of other organic objects found in nature and their function, as well as the study of ecosystems. Post-feminist ideas are reflected in the works, which are based on the principles of tact, interspecies relations and the idea of the equivalence of lives. The human body in relation to other organic materials is at the centre of my work.

PERCUSSIONS
“Percussions” explores the importance of water and liquids for human existence. Bodily fluids, as a fundamental condition of survival, become a musical instrument – a “sounding vessel”. The fluids in the woman’s body create a polyphonic sound that moves from the private to the public space. Playing with bodily fluids shows the woman as the essential creator of life, closer than ever to nature through her biology.

VOICES IN THE SEASHELL
In nature, a seashell serves as a home for molluscs and crustaceans. On land, the shell lives an “afterlife”. During the performance, the sea shell is brought to life with the voice of a woman, thus returning to its original function and becoming a home, but this time no longer for a mollusc or a crustacean, but for the voice of a woman. The shell becomes a musical instrument or a partner in a duet, working together with the woman’s voice through the proximity of bodies. A relationship and intimacy is created between the human being and the natural object, which responds to the feeling of proximity. The sound emitted by the shell refers to the mythical creature Siren and the power of her voice, and the performance refers to the subtle unfolding of the feminine and classical mythology.
