Biography
Mario Wezel (1988) is a German Documentary Photographer. After working in the realm of photojournalism for almost a decade, with stops ranging from a small town newspaper to National Geographic Magazine, he intensified his interest towards a more personal approach to image making. He uses photography and other lens-based imaging methods to engage with the world while following an autobiographical exploration of the themes around him. For the last four years, he has been working on a group of works around fatherhood, masculinity and family. His practice is always inspired by his own life and experiences made within his societal role. The aim with every work is to transform these personal experiences into visual thoughts and ideas. His first book “The End of Immortality” was published by FOTOHOF edition in November 2023. He teaches photography at Hochschule Hannover while continuing to work on projects.
